The Golden Ring of Almaty is our signature multi-day expedition that connects the most spectacular landscapes of southeastern Kazakhstan.

During eight days you will travel through dramatic canyons, alpine lakes, colorful mountains, vast plateaus, and traditional villages.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Ili River & Tamgaly Tas
Your journey begins with a morning departure from Almaty.

After leaving the city, we drive toward the Ili River where you will enjoy a relaxing SUP boarding experience surrounded by beautiful canyon landscapes.

After the water activity, we visit Tamgaly Tas, a unique cultural site famous for its large Buddhist rock carvings and ancient petroglyphs.

In the afternoon we continue the journey toward Altyn Emel National Park and arrive in the village of Basshi.
Overnight stay in a local guesthouse in Basshi village.

The guest house in the village has rooms with private bathrooms.

Day 2 — Altyn Emel National Park
Today we explore one of the most fascinating national parks in Kazakhstan.
First we visit the incredible Aktau Mountains, known for their colorful layers of rock formations that resemble landscapes from another planet.

Next we explore the Katutau Mountains, a volcanic mountain range with dramatic rock shapes formed by ancient lava flows.

Later in the day we visit the legendary Singing Dunes, a giant sand dune that produces a deep humming sound when the sand moves.
Overnight stay in Basshi village.
Day 3 — The three canyons of Almaty
After breakfast, we leave Altyn Emel and drive toward Charyn National Park.

Our first stop is the famous Charyn Canyon – Valley of Castles, where you will walk through towering red rock formations carved by millions of years of erosion.
After exploring the canyon, we continue to two lesser-known but equally stunning locations:
Moon Canyon, known for its unusual lunar-like terrain
Black Canyon, a dramatic viewpoint overlooking the Charyn River.

In the evening, we arrive in the mountain village of Saty.

Day 4 — Kaindy Lake & Kolsai Lake
Today we visit two of the most famous alpine lakes in Kazakhstan.

The first destination is Kaindy Lake, famous for its unique underwater forest where the tops of submerged trees rise above the turquoise water.

After exploring Kaindy, we continue to Kolsai Lake, often called the “Pearls of the Tien Shan”.

Overnight stay in a traditional yurt near Kolsai Lake, offering an authentic nomadic experience.
